• 2005 Voters of the Gloversville Enlarged School District pass a proposition chartering the Library as a School District Public Library with tax levy support, thereby ensuring the Library’s financial stability. The NYS Board of Regents grants the Library its charter.
  • 2008 A long range Plan of Service is approved by the Board of Trustees to determine the direction of the Library.
  • 2009 Butler Rowland Mays Architects, a firm from Ballston Spa, specializing in historic restoration of libraries is hired to study the Library and develop a Master Plan for renovation.
  • 2010 The Board of Trustees accepts the Master Plan.
  • 2011 The Schematic Design phase of the renovation project is completed, as is the solution to the basement moisture problem.
    The Board of Trustees assumes ownership of the building, land and adjacent parking lot from the City of Gloversville.
  • 2012 A Planning Study report on the viability of a capital campaign for renovation is completed.
    The Board of Trustees spends $200 to purchase 66 East Fulton Street at county auction for additional parking.
    The exterior masonry is restored using funds raised by the Friends of the Library and a NYS Public Library Construction Grant.
  • 2013 The Design Development Phase of the architectural design is completed.
    A Steering Committee, formed to study fundraising possibilities, hires a consulting firm and begins a capital campaign.
    The Library receives $200,374 from the NYS Public Library Construction Grant program to match with funds raised by the Friends of the Library and $100,000 from the Lloyd B. and Paulette E. Politsch Trust.
    Friends and Family Appeal raises $880,527.26.
  • 2014 NBT Bank pledges $50,000 to the project.
    Louis D. Mauro Sr. Charitable Trust pledges $40,000.
    The Howard S. Argersinger Trust pledges $30,000.

    Campaign total top $2.3 million.
    Native son and Pulitzer Prize winning author Richard Russo accepts position as honorary campaign chair.
  • 2015 Steven Greenhouse wrote and the NY Times published an article about the Library and Gloversville.
    2nd campaign newsletter published.
    The Gloversville Enlarge School District appeal kicked off with NYS Teacher of the Year Charles Giglio.
    Fire starters of the GHS Alumni appeal are honored for their efforts.
    Library is awarded $150,000 from the NYS Public Library Construction Grant program for the elevator.
    Campaign announces 500 donors.
    Lucius N. Littauer Foundation pledges $1,000,000.
    3rd campaign newsletter published.
    Library is awarded two $500,000 grants from the Consolidated Funding Application process.
  • 2016 Three former donors issued a dollar-for-dollar matching challenge to run January 15-March 15.  More than $125,000 was raised and the match was secured.
    The Library secured $212,211 from the New York Public Library Construction Grant Program.  This brings the total for this funding stream to $825,000 for this project.
    Retiring state senator Hugh T. Farley, secured a $2,250,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program grant for the Library.
    A lease is signed with the Fulton County Center for Regional Growth for temporary space.
    Library is awarded a third $500,000 grant from the Consolidated Funding Application process and has confirmation of a 4th award from a 2014 application.

  • 2017 The Alumni Appeal tops $100,000 with 47 classes from GHS and 9 of 12 from Bishop Burke participating.
    The Library moved to temporary quarters at 34 WEST Fulton St, in downtown.
    Bids for the project were awarded for 5 prime contractors; Bunkoff General Contractors, Inc., Rozell East, SRI, DLC, and Mazone Plumbing and Heating.
    In May the Library held a kick-off celebration to mark the beginning of construction.
