Training Workshops Available

Gloversville Public Library is proud to announce a new grant funded series of workshops to provide funding for basic computer classes and workforce training.

A basic computer class will be held monthly at the Library.  This class is designed for people who need to learn the basics of operating a computer.  Topics to be covered will include how to turn on a computer and how to use the mouse.  No computer skills are needed prior to taking this workshop.  Classes with Betsy Hastings of Workforce Solutions Services are scheduled from 5:30-7pm on August 12, September 9, October 7, November 4, and December 9.

The workforce training skills cover a variety of topics including resume writing, job searching, interviewing, Metrix (supplemental on line training), and local and regional labor market trends.  Classes will be 5:30-7pm the Monday following basic computer classes.  Details on each class are available in this brochure and at the Library.

Space is limited.  Reservations are required for these classes.  You can make a reservation on line or by calling or stopping by the Gloversville Public Library.

Gloversville Public Library is partnering with Workforce Solution Services of Fulton, Montgomery and Schenectady Counties and HFM BOCES Literacy Zone to provide these classes.  Informational brochures and registration assistance will be available at the Library and partnering locations.

The Mohawk Valley Library System applied for Federal funding on behalf of member libraries to help adults 16 and over in Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady counties who are looking for work. MVLS member libraries were encouraged to apply for this competitive mini grant.  From this funding the Gloversville Library applied for and received a mini grant of $1,500 for year one of this competitive three year grant. The funding will provide supplies, materials, equipment, training and books.
