These offering will be offered for sale by auction during the Friends' 7th Annual Celebration on Sunday, September 22 at noon, in the library.

Adirondack Stained Glass Works • 29 West Fulton Street, Gloversville, NY
Donated a glass star valued at $50; opening

Don Dwyer is a self-taught stained glass artist who founded the Adirondack Stained Glass Works thirty years ago. Working with a partner, he produces lighting using Tiffany, arts and crafts, and mission design as well as crafting custom-made doors and windows. The Fulton County Chamber awarded them the 2007 Small Business of the Year Award for their contributions to the community. They have also produced a line of lamps and windows that capture the Adirondacks.

Adirondack Wood Floor Company • 30 S. Main Street, Gloversville, NY
Donated a Great Camp Sagamore package valued at $300; opening bid $180
Don Savoie of The Adirondack Wood Floor Company has been installing and refinishing wood floors for 25 years. He has recently begun producing his own line of flooring, which is manufactured in New York from locally sourced and reclaimed woods. He is actively involved in in the revitalization of downtown Gloversville, and is a proud supporter of the Gloversville Public Library, the Schine Memorial Hall, LLC, and the Mohawk Harvest Co-op.

Linda Batchelor • Northampton, Massachusetts
Donated, Leaf , a monotype print valued at $100; opening bid $60
Linda’s work is based in printmaking. She is known for her collages made by cutting up old prints and rearranging them into patterns. She is currently doing straight monotypes. These pieces are quieter and more contemplative. She identifies them as her more mature work.

Bodywise Massage Therapy • Skyheart Place, 33 Bleecker Street, Gloversville, NY
Donated a sixty-minute massage valued at $65; opening bid $40
Hannah McAllister is a licensed massage therapist and skin-care specialist who has over 20 years of clinical and instructional experience in massage therapy. Her massages are each customized to the individual needs of the client and are offered as a way to promote health and well-being. Hannah is a member of the Library’s Board of Trustees and donates frequently to the Celebration.

Bill and Wally are generous supporters of many institutions and organizations in the community including the Library. Although both are professional administrators, they are skilled and creative decorators.

Ruth Crotty • Saratoga, NY
Donated, Hayfield, an oil painting
valued at $400; opening bid $240
Painting has always been a part of Ruth's life. For the past four years her focus has been plein air painting on location. Plein air painting combines Ruth’s goals of capturing the mood created by abstract and compositional elements such as the transitional light and shadow patterns, or the saturation of juxtaposed complementary colors. She is a member of Micropolis Gallery.
Richard Edel • Johnstown, New York
Donated a handmade butternut wall clock valued at $250; opening bid $150
Dick has always been interested in woodworking. He is an active member of the Sacandaga Chapter of the Northeast Woodworkers Association and has his own woodworking shop where he crafted this clock. The clock is made of wood the woodworkers’ group harvested and milled.

Cookie and Don Fleischut are active supporters of the Gloversville Public Library and the Celebration. Cookie is currently on the Library’s Foundation Board. They are known to generously donate their time and talent to the community. They are also known to be great cooks and gracious hosts.

Deanna Madonna • Gloversville, NY
Donated a handmade quilt valued at $150; opening bid $90
Deanna quilted for over ten years before giving up the craft. After a while she simply had too many quilts on hand. She has been a Library supporter for many years having worked on the building committee in the past.

Genia Meinhold • Greenwich, CT
Donated a golf package valued at $250; opening bid $150
Genia grew up in Gloversville and spends part of her summers at the lakes. She remembers the Children’s Room of the Gloversville library as being an essential part of her childhood. She has been both a regular donor to the Celebration and a regular attendee.

Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market • 30 N. Main Street, Gloversville, NY
Donated a $100 shopping spree valued at $100; opening bid $60
The Co-op moved into the historic Shine Building two years ago after outgrowing its original location. It continues to grow, now boasting over 500 members. Open to everyone, the Co-op offers nutritional foods and food-related workshops and houses both Happy Jack’s Café and Micropolis Gallery. It has become a significant part of the revitalization of downtown Gloversville.

Ellen Rae Panero • Johnstown, NY
Donated October Snowstorm an oil painting valued at $150; opening bid $90
Ellen Panero has participated in several competitions at both national and state levels and has appeared in innumerable watercolor exhibitions throughout New York. She often paints on location, recreating finished works from sketches and notes taken from what she has seen. Ellen has been a generous donor to the Celebration.

Joseph E. Persico • Guilderland, New York
Donated an autographed copy of Roosevelt’s Centurions; opening bid $100
Joseph Persico grew up in Gloversville, leaving to attend college at the New York State College for Teachers (now SUNY Albany). He later served in the U.S. Navy and worked for the U. S. Information Agency and New York State government. In 1966 he became the chief speechwriter for Governor and later Vice-President Nelson A. Rockefeller, a position he held for eleven years. He is the author of ten books, including Edward R. Murrow: An American Original and Nuremburg: Infamy on Trial.

Cindy Sheeler • Gloversville, NY
Donated Enchanted Flight a mixed media painting valued at $140; opening bid $85
Cindy Sheeler works in many mediums, always striving to create work that is happy and whimsical and fun. She displayed regularly at the Fulton County Art Show and has been a featured artist at the Norman Rockwell Museum exhibit of artist-designed garden gates. She recently retired from teaching art in Gloversville. Cindy has generously donated her work often to the Celebration.

Skyheart Studio • 33 Bleecker Street, Gloversville, NY
Donated four concert tickets to Skyheart Studio valued at $100; opening bid $60
Michael and Hannah McAllister are the proud owners of the former YWCA building now known as Skyheart Place. The building houses their home, Hannah’s massage and skin care business, and two music studios. Michael is a member of the Intermountain Trio (IM3), which often performs at Skyheart. The couple also books concerts of talented musicians from outside the area.

Eileen recently completed her second term as secretary of the Friends of the Gloversville Public Library. She is a talented craftsman who has taught workshops at the Caroga Historical Museum including a workshop on basket weaving. Eileen is a frequent contributor to the Celebration.

Paul Petrie • Gloversville, NY
Donated handcrafted wooden candlesticks valued at $50; opening bid $35
Paul Petrie has been working seriously at woodturning for several years. His work has appeared in both American and British woodworking magazines as well as in a video magazine on woodworking. His work is often distinguished by being very thin and pierced as well as colored. He is a regular donor to the Celebration.

Janet Marie Yeates • Northville, NY
Donated Pickering Beach 1809 Cottage an oil painting valued at $300; opening bid $180
Janet’s work has received numerous awards and has appeared in many juried exhibitions. She exhibits year-round as an artist member of the Micropolis Gallery in Gloversville. She is a plein air artist who states that she finds the challenge of painting outdoors to be addictive in part because she often finds herself the sole witness to the spectacular drama of late afternoon.
